About the University of Minnesota Libraries

The University of Minnesota Libraries is one of the university's and the state's greatest intellectual and capital assets. Housed in 14 facilities on the three Twin Cities campuses, the University Libraries' collections contain 6.2 million print volumes and nearly 37,000 serial subscriptions, making it the 16th largest research library collection in North America. It houses the Tretter Collection in GLBT studies, one of its 11 special collections.

About Quatrefoil Library

Founded in 1986, Quatrefoil Library is located in St. Paul, MN. The Library exists to collect, preserve, and share materials and information relevant to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and other sexual minority communities. Collections include books, videos, DVDs, and sound recordings, which members may check out. Quatrefoil also has a large collection of non-circulating periodicals.

About the Tretter Collection

The Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies houses over 30,000 items in a wide variety of media. The collection is international in scope and has materials in approximately 56 languages. It covers all time periods, from a 4,000-year-old phallic statuette from Egypt, up to current editions of GLBT periodicals. Although books are the core of the collection, substantial sections include textiles, glassware, film, music, art works, and three-dimensional objects such as event buttons and furniture.
