American FactFinder This is a data distribution system from the Bureau of the Census that will be the primary distribution locale for 2000 Census data. American FactFinder offers the capability to browse, search, and map data from many Census Bureau sources: the 1990 Census, the 1997 Economic Census, the American Community Survey, and other sources. Annual Reviews Remote access available for University of Minnesota -- Twin Cities students, staff and faculty Applied Science and Technology Abstracts Indexes over 300 major English-language periodicals in a wide variety of technology subjects ranging from aeronautics, chemistry, and computers to physics, plastics, and transportation. CEPR Discussion Papers Discussion Papers disseminate research quickly in order to generate comment and suggestions for revision or improvement. They may have been presented at conferences or workshops already, but will not yet have been published in journals. Over 3000 Discussion Paper Abstracts are currently available online and all Discussion Papers published since the beginning of 1999 are available. Conference Board Business Knowledge Research Collection The Conference Board Business Knowledge Research Collection is a searchable database of full-text research reports on the latest issues in business management and US and global economics. Corporate ownership information on nearly 200,000 of the most prominent international companies and their affiliates, subsidiaries and divisions. The database includes major public and private businesses in the United States and throughout the world. Includes historical data for the last 10 years (use "Historical Search"). Records include products, brands, and competitors along with the service agencies such as advertising and accounting. • Location(s): CorpTech Online CorpTech profiles over 95,000+ private and public companies and their business units, as well as units of foreign companies, government labs, and non-profits. Records can be downloaded into Excel or pdf formats. Countries and Consumers The public version of the Global Market Information Database (GMID). Countries and Consumers provides market research, reports, and statistical data on global consumption and market trends. To access, go to a public (i.e. non-UMN login) library workstation. Country Commerce from the Economist Intelligence Unit Reference guides from the Economist Intellegence Unit to the operating conditions, commercial laws and business regulations in 55 countries. Guidance on obtaining proper permits and registrations, protecting your intellectual property and complying with local tax laws-including e-commerce rules. County Business Patterns (U.S. Census) County Business Patterns is an annual series that provides subnational economic data by industry. The series is useful for studying the economic activity of small areas; analyzing economic changes over time; and as a benchmark for statistical series, surveys, and databases between economic censuses. Businesses use the data for analyzing market potential, measuring the effectiveness of sales and advertising programs, setting sales quotas, and developing budgets. Government agencies use the data for administration and planning. County Business Patterns covers most of the country's economic activity. The series excludes data on self-employed individuals, employees of private households, railroad employees, agricultural production employees, and most government employees. The County Business Patterns program has tabulated on a North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) basis since 1998. Data for 1997 and earlier years are based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) System.
This series has been published annually since 1964 and at irregular intervals dating back to 1946. The comparability of data over time may be affected by definitional changes in establishments, activity status, and industrial classifications.

Foundation Directory Online ver 80,000 unique funder profiles organize the latest foundation news, RFPs, job openings, publications and key staff affiliations. Program details and guidelines for funding applications are provided, as well as links to foundation websites. Additionally there is a fully-searchable database of 250,000+ 990s. Global Financial Data The Global Financial Database is a collection of financial and economic data provided in ASCII or Excel format. There are 20,000 historical or current data series which may be downloaded directly from the web site. Global Market Information Database (Student and Staff) The Global Market Information Database (GMID) is an integrated on-line information system providing key business intelligence on countries, companies, markets, and consumers. Statistics and profiles on 205 countries worldwide, lifestyle reports for 52 countries, market size for more than 330 consumer products in 52 countries, 3,500 market reports offering strategic analysis for consumer, industrial and service sectors, and profiles of 3,000 leading fast-moving consumer goods companies. Note that this database is contractually restricted by the publisher to University of Minnesota-Twin Cities students and staff only; the public is authorized to use the version of the database called Countries and Consumers. Globus and National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) GLOBUS (Global Business Opportunities) offers daily trade leads from the Trade Opportunities Program (TOPS), as well as the Department of Agriculture. GLOBUS also offers daily procurement activity from the Defense Logistics Agency, the United Nations, and the Commerce Business Daily leads. The NTDB (National Trade Data Bank) provides access to Country Commercial Guides, Market Research reports, Best Market reports and other programs. The International Trade Library is a comprehensive collection of over 40,000 documents related to international trade. All are full text searchable, as well as keyword searchable by country or product.

Health Economic Evaluations Database The Health Economic Evaluations Database (HEED) covers worldwide bibliographic citations and economic evaluations of medicines, medical interventions and other treatments as well as studies on the cost of illness. It also contains over 700 non-English language economic evaluations and assesses all the major European Languages as well as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian. The database contains more than 33,500 evaluations that have been selected by health economists for use by health economists. Health Source: Consumer Edition This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines. International Data Base (IDB) - Census Bureau The International Data Base (IDB) is a source of demographic and socio-economic statistics for 227 countries and areas of the world. Investext Investext contains research/analyst reports on companies and industries as well as annual statistical reports of industry trade associations. The moving wall is a fixed period of time ranging, in most cases, from 2 to 5 years, that defines the gap between the most recently published issue and the date of the most recent issues available in JSTOR. The 14 key business ratios cover the critical areas of business performance --solvency, efficiency and profitability. They are broken down into median figures, with upper and lower quartiles. Ratios are arranged by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes -a four-digit number that classifies business establishments by defining the industries in which they do business. KLD Socrates Socrates provides ratings on corporate social and environmental responsibility in the form of statistics, data, and reports. It covers more than 4,000 companies in over 50 global markets. Among other things, this database can reveal if any of the companies on the Fortune 500 list have serious human rights violations. KLD Stats KLD STATS provide a snapshot of corporate responsibility ratings over the course of 15 years, making it an excellent resource for comparative CSR research over time. The STATS in KLD STATS stands for a Statistical Tool for Analyzing Trends in Social & Environmental Performance. Data is delivered via Excel spreadsheets. Mintel Market Research Database Mintel publishes over 45 reports each month, covering a wide range of sectors and focusing on topical marketing issues.
