This page will help you find a specific article, or many articles on a specific subject, in newspapers. If you are not student, staff or faculty of the University of Minnesota, you will not be able to access online databases from a remote location; you can, however, come into any university library facility to access them.

Recent Newspaper Articles
- LexisNexis Academic (ON CAMPUS USE ONLY)
 This database contains the electronic text of articles from many major U.S. and foreign newspapers. Beginning date varies by title; some newspapers begin as early as 1977. International news sources are included. Need some Lexis-Nexis searching help? Try our guided exercise on Searching LexisNexis Academic.
- ProQuest Newsstand
 This resource is licensed by the MINITEX Library Information Network with state appropriations from the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office (MHESO) and the Minnesota Department of Education. ProQuest Newsstand contains the electronic text for 150 titles, plus another 200 regional news sources. Archival coverage starts in January 1995 for most papers and reaches as far back as 1986 for others. International news sources are included. This database can be browsed by issue.

Older Newspaper Articles
- New York Times (1851-2004)
 Full-page, digital archive of the New York Times, 1851-2004. Search content, and view images of pages and articles, advertising and more. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.
- Other Historical Newspapers
The University of Minnesota Libraries has many other newspapers that go back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Most are on microfilm. To find articles in them, use an index. To see if an index exists, go to News Sources and click on "Indexes to Newspapers".
