How to Find Film Reviews and Critiques in Wilson Library
Guide to library resources for film reviews. Al Jadid: Arab Culture & Arts Reviews Al Jadid is published in English, and features original articles along with many translations of essays and interviews by Arab writers, journalists, scholars, and poets as well as original illustrations by featured artists. It features essays, poetry, and reviews of films, books, and other art. The EBSCO MegaFILE is comprised of the complete content and functionality of Academic Search Premier, MasterFILE Premier, Business Source Premier, and Regional Business News. FIAF International Film Archive Database Use to find articles from over 300 film-related periodicals (journals indexed). Can also be used to look up silent film holdings around the world. Canceled March 18, 2008 [Resource no longer available] Film and Television Literature Index This database can be used to find articles on film studies' topics. It is an index to over 300 core publications covering the film medium, and a selective index an additional 300 (journals indexed). Date of indexing starts in 1865 (The Nation), although more recent is more common (example: Film and History, 1970 - present, or Journal of Popular Film and Television, 1990 - present). Use the Find It link to link to any articles available online, or to find print holdings in the Libraries. Film Four: Film Reviews British Channel Four's website featuring over 15,000 reviews, and current writings on cinema. Film Review Index An extremely valuable index to English-language reviews and criticism of nearly 8000 selected feature films made around the world from 1882 to 1985. Features thoughtful articles on aspects of film and filmmaking, including a rich selection of reviews. Internet Movie Database The most comprehensive movie source on the web. Provides information on movies around the world, from earliest times to the latest releases. Includes filmographies, plot summaries, reviews, biographical data, etc. Movie Review Query Engine Valuable link to more than 50,000 movie reviews on the Internet, both bonafide publications' reviews and those from movie newsgroup contributors. New York Times: Movie Reviews Browse or search 28,000 New York Times movie reviews. Included in the free review archive are all films reviewed since 1960, reviews of all Best Picture Academy Award winners, as well as The New York Times guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made.
