CHEMnetBASE is a reference source for locating chemical facts, properties, literature references, and for performing structure searching. All dictionaries are sub-structure searchable as is Properties of Organic Compounds. CHEMnetBASE includes the following: The CRC Handbook of Chemistry & Physics; Polymers: A Property Database; Properties of Organic Compounds; Dictionary of Commonly Cited Compounds; Dictionary of Inorganic and Organometallic Compounds; Dictionary of Organic Compounds; Dictionary of Natural Products; and Dictionary of Drugs.
Annually published reference source for chemical & physical property data, nomenclature, structure, & composition of substances. Includes physical constants of organic & inorganic compounds, conversion factors, & much more.
Covers seven areas of computational chemistry from ab-initio computations to biological and biochemical applications, from the discipline's inception to the present day. ECC contains over 300 Articles, all extensively cross-referenced. Technical terms are explained in short Definitions. Each year around 50 new and updated Articles will be added, so that the Encyclopedia will keep up-to-date with the development of computational chemistry.
The Encyclopedia of Mathematical Physics covers the interaction between physics and mathematics with over 400 authoritative articles on subjects ranging from classical mechanics to dynamical systems, quantum field theory, and differential geometry. The content is intended primarily for experienced researchers, but also for beginning graduate students. Published in 2006, with updates to follow.
This completely revised third edition, which is a university and professional level compendium of chemistry, molecular biology, mathematics, and engineering, is refreshed with numerous articles about current research in these fields. For example, the new edition has an increased emphasis on information processing and biotechnology, reflecting the rapid growth of these areas. Section editors are either Nobel Laureates or editors of key journals in their fields.
Presents over 500 articles addressing all areas of polymer science. Updated quarterly with new and substantially revised articles, the Encyclopedia of Polymer Science and Technology provides information about polymers, plastics, fibers, biomaterials, elastomers, and polymerization processes.
Allows alphanumeric searches through e-EROS and across all Wiley products, and by allowing chemical structure, substructure and reaction searching straight from a chemist's desktop. Contains a database of around 70,000 reactions and around 4000 of the most frequently consulted reagents and is fully searchable by structure and substructure, reagent, reaction type, experimental conditions etc. and allows sophisticated full text searches.
The Encyclopedia of Statistical Sciences provides information on statistical theory and the applications of statistical methods in various scientific fields. This second edition collects the entire original edition plus supplements and updates (16 volumes of the print reference).
ENGnetBASE is an online reference source providing access to over 600 handbooks published by CRC Press. The handbooks include a wide variety of titles on engineering specialties, including Civil Engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, HVAC, Nanotechnology, and more. Users can either browse the table of contents of each individual handbook or use keyword searching to retrieve and display related full-text information. Full- text results are displayed in .pdf format.
The definitive resource and reference work for crystallography. Each volume in the series contains articles and tables of data relevant to crystallographic research and to applications of crystallographic methods in all sciences concerned with the structure and properties of materials. Emphasis is given to symmetry, diffraction methods and techniques of crystal structure determination, and the physical and chemical properties of crystals. The data are accompanied by discussions of theory, practical explanations and examples, all of which are useful for teaching.
Considered to be the standard reference work in the field, this encyclopedia covers the theory and practice of chemical engineering, industrial production and uses of chemical materials, and the latest advances in almost every branch of chemistry.
Knovel provides online access to reference books, databases, and conference proceedings from a number of publishers that cover all areas of engineering and includes content relevant to related sciences (e.g., chemistry and earth sciences). It includes interactive graphs and tables and is a good starting point when you need a piece of data quickly.
Classic reference source for chemists; contains over 10,000 entries on drugs and pharmaceuticals, common organic chemicals and laboratory reagents. The entries include data such as chemical names, molecular formula, chemical structure, physical data, literature references, and more.
Nature Protocols is an online resource for experimental protocols, primarily in biology and chemistry, including authoritative, peer-reviewed 'Nature Protocols' and an interactive 'Protocols Network'. The two create a dynamic forum for scientists to upload and comment on protocols.
Produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, ScienceCareers.org (formerly NextWave) is a career guide for scientists. It includes salary surveys, job listings, and articles of interest to the job seeker in a broad range of scientific disciplines.
"The worlds's largest technical encyclopedia," this is also a very trusted source of information on a wide variety of fields that involve chemistry.
Online version of the well-known Sigma-Aldrich chemical catalog with CAS registry numbers, a variety of physical and chemical properties, and spectra for chemicals manufactured by Sigma-Aldrich; free registration is required to access pricing information (typically only for smaller quantities).
Periodic table including extensive information about the elements.
(from Washington State Department of Transportation)
"The following list provides the conversion relationship between U.S. customary units and SI (International System) units."
(by Louis A. Bloomfield at the University of Virginia)
Ask a question about the physics and science of everyday life--from falling balls to medical imaging--or browse through previously asked and answered questions.
An index to chemistry reference books at the U of M; when you select a substance and then a specific property, provides the titles of potential (mostly print) information sources.
(from the National Institute of Standards and Technology)
Provides physical reference data including fundamental physical constants, atomic spectroscopic data, molecular spectroscopic data, and much more.
