ProQuest Newspapers

Text versions for hundreds of daily U.S. newspapers selected international sources. Archival coverage starts in January 1995 for most papers and reaches as far back as 1986 for others.

LexisNexis Academic

LexisNexis Academic is a full text databases for news, business, and legal research. It has global coverage of English language newspapers.

Factiva

The largest collection of full text news sources includes titles from countries worldwide. Besides major daily newspapers, it also includes newswires, trade magazines, interviews and transcripts of media programs. News content includes 9,000 sources from 152 countries in 22 languages. Limited to 7 simultaneous users.

PressDisplay

Full-page digital archive updated daily with current news from 650 national and international newspapers. PressDisplay is a rolling 90-day archive. A number of newspapers feature translation, audio, and photographs.

Ethnic newswatch

Full-text articles from over 300 American ethnic and minority newspapers including Asian-American, Jewish, African-American, Native-American, Arab-American, Eastern-European, and other multi-ethnic communities. Coverage dates back to 1990.

AP News Archives

A moving image collection dating covering the entire 20th century to date. Collection includes Associated Press Television News footage from newsreels, film, and video.

ProQuest Digital Microfilm

Newspapers digitized from microfilm. Full-text articles from the Boston globe, Chicago tribune, Los Angeles times (Library ed.), New York times (East Coast, Late ed.), St. Paul pioneer press, Star tribune (Minneapolis, Minn.), USA today, Wall Street journal (Eastern ed.), and Washington post (Final ed.).

Proquest Historical Newspapers

Digital reproductions of major U.S. newspapers that include the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Other titles include the Atlanta Daily World and the Los Angeles Sentinel, the New York Amsterdam News, Pittsburgh Courier, Chicago Defender.

Chronicling America: Historic American Newspapers

This site allows you to search and view newspaper pages from 1880-1922 and find information about American newspapers published between 1690-present. Chronicling America is sponsored jointly by the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Library of Congress as part of the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP).

Nineteenth Century U.S. Newspapers

Digital archive of 19th century U.S. newspapers (1.7 million pages). Includes digital facsimile images of both full pages and clipped articles for hundreds of 19th century U.S. newspapers. For each issue, the newspaper is captured from cover-to-cover, providing access to every article, advertisement and illustration.

Illustrated London News

The Illustrated London News Historical Archive provides online access to the entire run of the ILN from its first publication on 14 May 1842 to its last in 2003. Each page has been digitally reproduced in full colour and every article and caption is full-text searchable with hit-term highlighting and links to corresponding illustrations.

Google News Archives

Allows for browsing newspapers by title or searching the entire archives. Includes many U.S historical newspapers such as the Milwaukee Journal.

African American Newspapers

Text and full-page online archive of African-American newspapers covering the 1800s. It contains articles from seven African-American newspapers published in the United States during the 19th century, including Freedoms Journal, The Colored American, The National Era, and The Christian Recorder.

Civil War: A Newspaper Perspective, The

Text and full-page online archive of Civil War era newspapers. Includes articles from the Charleston Mercury, the New York Herald and the Richmond Enquirer.

Latin American Newspapers—a World Newspaper Archive

More than 35 nineteenth- and twentieth-century Latin American newspapers. Featuring titles from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Venezuel including the El Mercurio, an important Spanish-language paper published in Santiago.

Nineteenth Century British Library Newspapers

Digital archive of 48 nineteenth century British newspapers. This online collection includes national and regional newspapers including those from both established country or university towns and the new industrial powerhouses of the manufacturing Midlands, as well as Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Special attention was paid to include newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule. The penny papers aimed at the working and clerical classes are also included in the collection.

Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century Burney Collection

Digital archive covering British news media from 1757-1817. The archive contains about 700 newspapers, pamphlets, and books gathered by the Reverend Charles Burney. The contents were published mostly in London, and some were published in English provincial, Irish and Scottish papers, and a few examples from the American colonies, Europe and India.

Times Digital Archive

Digital Archive of The Times of London for the years 1785-1985. Full facsimile images of either a specific article or a complete page. The entire newspaper is captured, with all articles, advertisements and illustrations/photos divided into categories.

ICON: International Coalition on Newspapers

Links to past, present, and prospective digitization projects of historic newspapers. The focus is primarily on digital conversion efforts, not full-text collections of current news sources.
