Web of Science vs. Google Scholar Smackdown

Imagine your professor or boss has just told you about an article on a particular topic that he things you need to get. "It's either in JAMA or New England Journal of Medicine," he tells you, "and I'm pretty sure it is by Smith, or maybe it is by Jones. Anyway, you need to get this article." Where do you go to find the article? In this class, we will compare and contrast two different library resources -- Google Scholar and Web of Science -- in a smackdown to determine which is better for tracking down incomplete or incorrect citations.

Using Web of Science and Google Scholar, you can also identify how often a publication has been cited, trace how research on a topic has evolved over time, and track who has cited your publications. Learn also how to search for books, articles and other sources cited in bibliographies and works cited lists.

This class will have a health sciences focus.
