WHY USE THIS ASSIGNMENT

Students will learn how to locate statistical sources to support arguments they make in their papers and projects.

INSTRUCTOR PREPARATION

  1. Adapt or copy the accompanying assignment, Finding Statistics.

  2. Discuss with students the uses (and abuses) of statistics.

  3. Demonstrate how to locate statistics using one of the titles listed in the possible sources section of the assignment for this lesson plan.

STUDENT PREPARATION

  1. Have students complete QuickStudy Lesson 3 of Module 6, Finding Facts, Reviews, and More.

  2. Have students complete QuickStudy Module 6's Guided Exercise, Interpreting Statistics.
