Creating PDF Files from PowerPoint for Windows

These instructions assume you have CutePDF Writer installed. CutePDF Writer is a free utility http://www.cutepdf.com/.

  1. Note the poster Width and Height in the Page Setup dialog under the File menu.



  2. Choose Print... under the File menu.



  3. Set the Printer to "Cute PDF" and click on Properties.

  4. In the Layout tab, click on the Portrait radio button. Then click on Advanced...



  5. In the Paper Size drop down box select Postscript Custom Page Size.



  6. The Postscript Custom Page Size Definition appears. Set the Width to the short dimension of your poster and the Height to the long dimension. Click OK.



  7. Set these parameters in the Advanced Options to the following values:
    • Print Quality = 600dpi
    • TrueType Font = Download as Softfont
    • TrueType Font Download Option = Automatic
    Click OK

  8. Assign a file name, choose a location, and click Save to create your PDF file. Be sure to check your results using the instructions found here.
