Abstract Guidelines

Abstract Guidelines

We expect that space for poster presentations may be limited. If so, abstracts will be accepted according to criteria such as date of submission. So, please submit your abstract early.

Guidelines are also included in the Registration Guide (Section 5). Abstracts must be less than 300 words in length (including title, etc.) and include the following format:

Keep in mind that your abstract should be understandable on a basic level to a non-expert, so avoid jargon wherever possible. Abstracts that convey a sense of the bigger picture of research in your field, in addition to some detail on your contribution to a specific project, will be most successful. Please edit your work carefully for accuracy and check with your faculty mentor before submitting. To view abstracts from last year's symposium, download 2006 Symposium Proceedings (.pdf) or use this Sample Abstract (.doc) as a reference for formatting your abstract.

Please follow the instructions outlined in the Registration Guide to submit both electronic and paper copies of your abstract by March 30.
