Occupy the Libraries during last week of class & Finals

The University Libraries will offer "distraction-free" studying for finals that includes extended hours in our buildings, as well as stress-reducing activities. Use our spaces, our computers, our coffee shops, get help when you need it, and take a break with our awesome activities.

Walter Library (East bank)

Extended Hours:
Open 24/7 from December 4 to December 19

Study Break Activities:

  • Coffee, soda, cookies, and more on December 16, 3:00-3:30 p.m.
  • Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Brawl with the Nintendo Wii in Walter 210, December 16, 3:00-5:00 p.m., sponsored by the Gaming Community of Practice.
  • Daily “Brain Boosters at Walter Library, ” December 9 through 19:
    • Group crossword puzzles (Professor Barany's crossword puzzles)
    • Individual Sudoku puzzles
    • Puzzles set up throughout second floor
    • Coloring activity
    • Free books

Magrath and St. Paul Libraries

Extended Hours:
Open until midnight December 11 to December 18 and extended study area until 2:00 a.m.

Study Break Activities

  • Animal therapy--relax with a dog or chicken--in the LES building from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 10. Learn more about the volunteer organization.
  • Make & Take projects on December 11, 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Make a button, learn origami, and more and enjoy free coffee and tea.
  • Natural Resources Library will be offering free coffee and tea the week of December 9 and treats on December 12 and December 13.

Bio-Medical Library (East bank)

Extended Hours:

Wilson Library (West bank)

Extended Hours:
Open 24/7 from December 12 to December 19

Study Break Activities:

  • Holiday Cartoons and Snacks
    December 12 in Wilson S30A from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
    • Revisit your favorite classic holiday cartoons and enjoy a snacks while you watch (first-come, first-served)

  • Ewoks and Daleks on Snowflakes--Oh My!
    December 16, 1st Floor Wilson Lobby, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
    • Make a Star Wars or Doctor Who-themed paper snowflake
    • Try your hand at finger knitting (no special equipment needed)
    • Cider/hot chocolate served, along with a grab-and-go snack food

  • During the evenings of finals week, stop by the basement of Wilson Library for giant crosswords, board games, puzzles, and candy.
