The Copyright Permissions Service accepts course pack requests at any time throughout the year, but there are guidelines that you can follow to ensure a more timely turnaround for your course pack.
Even though some publishers respond to permission requests within a few days, there are times in which it can take quite a bit longer. Because of this, we recommend submitting your requests 4-6 weeks prior to the start of term, if possible. Submitting your requests early is especially important when requesting clearance for electronic permission or special projects. By doing so, you are allowing slower publishers more time to respond, while also obtaining greater flexibility in choosing alternate readings, if needed. Submitting your requests early also helps in avoiding the bottleneck that can occur at the Digital Print Centers in the last few weeks before the start of each term.
