Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find audiobooks or books on tape?

Answer:

The University Libraries' audio-based collections are predominately curriculum-oriented, meaning that we have language training tapes, music, etc.
  • Start at the Video and Media tab to search MNCAT, the library catalog, by format such as "audio." Also keywords like audiobook, recording or audio are useful.
  • Many older works, poetry, and classics may be downloaded from the web. Try the Audio Archive or search in Google.

If you are looking for general/popular reading here are some suggestions:

  • Try public libraries. For example, here is more on audiobooks from Hennepin County Public Library.
  • Get it from another library (Interlibrary Loan). Request through MNCAT, the library catalog, if at University of Minnesota coordiante campuses. Or submit a request for a specific audiobook through the Interlibrary Loan.
