Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find current or historic advertisements?

Some of our article databases include full text of newspapers or magazines including the advertisements.

  • New York Times Archive offers page images of all pages from 1851 through 2005, including ads, and all are searchable; you can limit by "document type" to "display ad."
  • Vogue Archive from 1893 to present
  • PressDisplay (includes current newspapers from the last 90 days from around the globe)
  • Advertisements are generally part of our print, microfilm and microfiche collections. If you want to see the ads in a specific publication for a specific time period, search the library catalog to see which years are available and which library location.
