The Heggen Collection specializes in literary criticism and the history of journalism.

This specialized collection is located in Room 100 of Murphy Hall. It is supported with funds generously donated by the alumni of the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Contact the staff at the Sevareid Journalism Library with questions about this collection.

The collection is named after Thomas Orlo Heggen. Heggen was a 1941 graduate of the University of Minnesota, and the author of the book and play called Mr. Roberts. The book was later made into a film. Thomas Heggen was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Dec. 23, 1919 and died May 1949. His support helped to start a collection of books on literary journalism.
