  • Immigration History Research Center
    Non-circulating personal papers, organizational records, books, newspapers, and other original sources documenting immigration and ethnicity throughout the United States.

  • YMCA Archives (Kautz Family)
    Non-circulating historical records, photographs, books, and journals documenting the U.S.A. YMCA's work in the U. S. and abroad from the 1850s to the present.

The first two volumes provide signed articles on global immigration topics, issues about immigration, reasons for immigration and emigration and organizations that aid or facilitate immigration.   • Annual Review of Population Law
    Excellent searchable database from Harvard University Law School provides summaries and excerpts of legislation, constitutions, court decisions, and other official government documents from every country in the world relating to population policies, reproductive rights and health, women's status and rights, children and adolescents, HIV and AIDS, and related topics, including abortion, domestic violence, and female genital mutilation. Covers 1974-present.
  • International Bibliography of Historical Demography
    Bibliographic citations on population studies and demography through history. All world areas are covered, with roughly 70-percent of records treating Europe, and all historical time periods are also covered. Topics covered include: spatial distribution of populations; mechanisms of population change, including mortality, fertility, and migration; marriage and the family; population structures; relationships between economic, social, and population variables; methods and techniques of historical demography, including palaeodemography.
    Covers information family planning, population law and policy, and primary health care, including maternal/child health in developing countries in journal articles, monographs, technical reports, and unpublished works.

    Local Stats provides comparable data across all 50 states from U.S. counties, cities, and metropolitan statistical areas across a broad variety of topics that include economy, education, crime, government finance, health, population, religion, social welfare, and transportation.

    This index provides historical coverage of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present with over 2,000 journals including all key English-language historical journals.
  • AnthroSource Authentication Required
    Current and archival journals from the American Anthropological Association (AAA). Current coverage includes 15 of the AAA's most critical peer-reviewed publications; including American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, and Medical Anthropology Quarterly. The archive includes all AAA journals.

  • Digital Dissertations Authentication Required
    Dissertations and theses from over 1000 universities. Doctoral dissertations are indexed for almost all North American graduate schools and many European universities. Masters theses from selected schools only. Provides bibliographic citations for older titles. Abstracts are included for dissertations since 1980 and for masters theses since 1988. Some dissertations, beginning with 1997 publication dates, are available digitally. These include the University of Minnesota and other CIC member universities.

    "Through a single search facility, the ELAND service provides access to a wealth of development information resources held by institutes in different parts of Europe. Altogether, more than 1 million individual records can be accessed. Using modern cross-database searching techniques, ELAND allows nine separate databases held in eight different locations to be searched at the same time." Topics covered include: administration, agriculture, culture, education, environment, finance, health, industry and technology, information, international relations and international cooperation, labor, population, society, trade, and transport.

  • PAIS Index Authentication Required
    Since its establishment in 1914, PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) has chronicled issues in the public debate through highly selective coverage of a wide variety of sources, including references to monographs, periodical articles, notes and announcements, government documents, policy reports and analytics. Addition of the Archive to our current PAIS International database extends comprehensive access to public and social policy information.
  • Policy File Index (formerly called PolicyFile) Authentication Required
    PolicyFile draws its content from public policy think tanks, university research programs, research organizations and publishers. Some well known contributors include: the American Enterprise Institute, Brookings Institution, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Cato Institute, Center for Defense Information, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Council on Foreign Relations, Democratic Leadership Council, Economic Strategy Institute, Federation of American Scientists, Heritage Foundation, Hoover Institution, Hudson Institute, Institute for International Economics, International Monetary Fund, National Center for Policy Analysis, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, RAND Corporation, United States Institute of Peace, and the World Bank.   • Social Services Abstracts Authentication Required
    CSA Social Services Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of current research focused on social work, human services, and related areas, including social welfare, social policy, and community development. The database abstracts and indexes over 1,600 serials publications and includes abstracts of journal articles and dissertations, and citations to book reviews.
  • Sociological Abstracts Authentication Required
    This core database for the field of sociology contains information on sociology and social policy worldwide. Sociological Abstracts includes citations from the 1952-present.
  • Worldwide Political Science Abstracts Authentication Required
    CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts is building on the merged backfiles of Political Science Abstracts, published by IFI / Plenum, 1975-2000, and ABC POL SCI, published by ABC-CLIO, 1984-2000. The database provides citations, abstracts, and indexing of the international serials literature in political science and its complementary fields, including international relations, law, and public administration & public policy.

    This is a data distribution system from the Bureau of the Census that will be the primary distribution locale for 2000 Census data. American FactFinder offers the capability to browse, search, and map data from many Census Bureau sources: the 1990 Census, the 1997 Economic Census, the American Community Survey, and other sources.
  • Guide to Demographic Statistics
    A good set of links to governmental and other information on populations worldwide from the Government Publications Library.
  • International Organization for Migration (IOM)
    The IOM has become the leading international organization working with migrants and governments to provide humane responses to migration challenges. Many of their reports are available as pdfs at the web site.
