Graduate Resources for Physics

Students are often finding it difficult to locate GRE material on the web and ultimately head to the bookstore to purchase an expensive test prep book. Fortunately there are a number of free (and official) test prep solutions out there for both the GRE and the Physics subject test. Here is a good list to get started:

    Download the GRE practice test pdf that includes:
    • one full-length paper-based GRE General Test
    • test-taking strategies
    • sample verbal and quantitative questions with explanations
    • sample analytical writing topics, scored sample essays, and reader commentary
  • Walter SMART Learning Commons and Library Media Services
    Books and test prep software are available for use in Room 204, the SMART Commons in Walter.

  • GRE Powerprep Software
    Go here to download the free software the includes the computer version of the GRE practice test. It includes two computer-based GRE General Tests.

GRE Subject Test
There are several subject tests to choose from. Most US graduate schools request scores from the Physics Subject test in addition to the general GRE exam.

    Produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, (formerly NextWave) is a career guide for scientists. It includes salary surveys, job listings, and articles of interest to the job seeker in a broad range of scientific disciplines.
