Includes coverage of more than 250 controversial topics in the news. Each report includes chronologies, illustrations, maps, tables, sidebars, bibliographies and contact information.

Finding Articles (Magazines, Newspapers and Scholarly Journals) with Indexes and Databases
Use indexes and databases to find articles on your topic. Search by keywords and identify useful articles. Try to narrow your search to around 200 articles by adding more keywords or using the pull down menu next to the search box and change to "title" or "abstract" field. Click the FindIt! button to connect to the full text of the article if it is available. Or search MNCAT to see if we have print and go make a photocopy.

    • PAIS International Authentication Required
      Since its establishment in 1914, PAIS (Public Affairs Information Service) has chronicled issues in the public debate through highly selective coverage of a wide variety of sources, including references to monographs, periodical articles, notes and announcements, government documents, policy reports and analytics. Addition of the Archive to our current PAIS International database extends comprehensive access to public and social policy information.

      GenderWatch, a full text index, covers the impact of gender in a variety of subject areas.
    • PubMed Authentication Required
      This is the primary source of journal article for the health sciences. You can search MEDLINE and preMEDLINE databases with full text access to all MEDLINE e-journals subscribed to by the University of Minnesota TC Libraries. MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database/article index that contains over 17 million references to journal articles. Coverage is from 1949 to the present. Over 5200 journals worldwide in over 37 languages are accessible.
    • Biological Abstracts, 1969-2003 Authentication Required
      Biological Abstracts (part of BIOSIS Previews) is one of the foremost sources of bibliographic references to the life science journal literature. Coverage is international, and includes agriculture, biochemistry, biomedicine, biotechnology, genetics, botany, ecology, microbiology, pharmacology, and zoology.

      ProQuest Newsstand provides national and regional news sources. Full-text titles include The Boston Globe, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, USA TODAY, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and other newspapers.
    • Ethnic NewsWatch Authentication Required
      Full-text articles from over 300 American ethnic and minority newspapers including Asian-American, Jewish, African-American, Native-American, Arab-American, Eastern-European, and other multi-ethnic communities. Coverage dates back to 1990.
    • LexisNexis Academic Authentication Required
      LexisNexis Academic is a full text databases of business, legal, news, magazines, and wire services. It includes sources for accounting, environmental studies, health and medical care, government and politics, people, and consumer information. Legal publications include law journals, federal and state statutes, codes, cases, agency rules & regulations, patents and legal reference materials.
