    Find books, journals, articles, maps, music scores, sound recordings, films, theses/dissertations, machine-readable data files, and any other materials available in libraries worldwide. This covers all subject areas. Request items through Interlibrary Loan using the ILLiad link on each item's record. WorldCat is produced by OCLC (Online Computer Library Center, Inc.)

  • ISI Web of Knowledge Authentication Required
    The ISI Web of Knowledge provides the Web of Science interface for institutional sitewide access to the ISI Citation products which cover over 8,000 international journals in the sciences, social sciences, and the arts and humanities. Titles of the print equivalent are: Arts and Humanities Citation Index, Book Citation, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Science Citation Index.
  • Scopus Authentication Required
    An abstract and citation database with a single search platform searching content from ScienceDirect, Scopus, SciTopics, and relevant Web content.
  • Business Source Premier Authentication Required
    Use this popular research database to find business articles from 2,200 journals and magazines in marketing, management, information technology, operations, human resources, accounting, finance and economics dating back to 1965. Additional company and industry profiles from Datamonitor are included along with country reports and SWOT analyses.
  • Worldwide Political Science Abstracts Authentication Required
    CSA Worldwide Political Science Abstracts is building on the merged backfiles of Political Science Abstracts, published by IFI / Plenum, 1975-2000, and ABC POL SCI, published by ABC-CLIO, 1984-2000. The database provides citations, abstracts, and indexing of the international serials literature in political science and its complementary fields, including international relations, law, and public administration & public policy.
  • Engineering Village Authentication Required
    Search both Inspec and Compendex for articles and conference papers related to engineering, computer science, and physics.
  • Environmental Sciences & Pollution Management Database
    This database provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary coverage of the environmental sciences. Abstracts and citations are drawn from over 6000 sources including scientific journals, conference proceedings, reports, monographs, books and government publications. Incorporates Pollution Abstracts, Water Resources Abstracts, and other specialized databases.Areas of coverage include agricultural and environmental biotechnology, ecology, energy resources, environmental engineering, environmental impact statements (U.S.), pollution, toxicology & toxic emissions, and water resource issues.

    Subscription ended on August 31, 2016. Although the access is graced for a few months, please use Agricultural & Environmental Science Database instead.

  • EconLit Authentication Required
    Contains bibliographic citations and selected abstracts to the professional and scholarly literature in the field of economics and allied disciplines, including journals, books, chapters in books, conference proceedings and dissertations.
  • Google Scholar (UMN setup required)
    To gain off-campus access to articles from library journal subscriptions, change the Library Settings to University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Google Scholar (see this tutorial) Use Google Scholar to find articles from academic publishers, professional societies, research institutes, and scholarly repositories from colleges and universities.   • Policy File Index (formerly called PolicyFile) Authentication Required
    PolicyFile draws its content from public policy think tanks, university research programs, research organizations and publishers. Some well known contributors include: the American Enterprise Institute, Brookings Institution, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Cato Institute, Center for Defense Information, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Council on Foreign Relations, Democratic Leadership Council, Economic Strategy Institute, Federation of American Scientists, Heritage Foundation, Hoover Institution, Hudson Institute, Institute for International Economics, International Monetary Fund, National Center for Policy Analysis, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, RAND Corporation, United States Institute of Peace, and the World Bank. Where available, access to home pages, electronic mail addresses and fulltext are made available within individual abstracts.
  • CQ Researcher Authentication Required
    Designed as a starting place for research, 48 reports per year provide background on current topics of widespread interest. The reports define the issues and include a chronology and extensive bibliographies.
  • Council of State Governments
    The Council of State Governments is the nation's only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy.
  • National Conference of State Legislatures
    The National Conference of State Legislatures is a bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the nation's 50 states, its commonwealths and territories. NCSL provides research, technical assistance and opportunities for policymakers to exchange ideas on the most pressing state issues.

    The Proquest Congressional Research Digital Collection (CRDC) provides full-text access to more than 5,000 Congressional committee prints published from 2004 to present and more than 23,000 Congressional Research Service reports published from 2004-present. The bibliographic records provide controlled-vocabulary indexing, including citations for bills, public laws, and Statutes at Large, and analytical abstracts of the documents.   • Legislative Insight (Proquest) Authentication Required
    Legislative insight is a federal legislative history service that makes available thoroughly researched compilations of digital full-text publications relevant to enacted United States public laws.
  • Energy Citations Database
    Energy Citations contains bibliographic records for energy and energy-related scientific and technical information from the Department of Energy (DOE) and its predecessor agencies, the Energy Research & Development Administration (ERDA) and the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC). Includes bibliographic records of literature in related disciplines such as chemistry, physics, materials, environmental science, geology, engineering, mathematics, climatology, oceanography, and computer science. Includes links to the full text of some recent publications.

  • Associations Unlimited Authentication Required
    Directory of associations, professional societies, and other nonprofit membership organization. Includes international, national, and state organizations of all types. Brief profiles include contact information, budget, number of employees and specialized publications.
  • Lobbyists.info Authentication Required
    Access limited to 5 simultaneous users. Lobbyists.info provides reference information on and for the government relations and lobbying industry and is maintained by parent publisher, Columbia Books & Information Services (CBIS)
  • Leadership Library Authentication Required
    Detailed information about people and organizational strucures for major corporations, nonprofits, news organizations, associations, law firm, courts and local, state, and federal government. Licensed for 2 users at a time.

  • ProQuest Statistical Insight Authentication Required
    Index to statistical publications from US and state government agencies, international intergovernmental organizations, professional and trade organizations, business organizations, commercial publishers, independent research organizations, and universities.
  • Data-Planet Statistical Datasets Authentication Required
    Provides access to statistical data produced by U.S. Federal agencies, States, private organizations, and major intergovernmental organizations. There are up to 2 billion charts, maps, views, rankings, time series and tables available for use in the Data-Planet repository. Data-Planet Statistical Datasets offers powerful capabilities to compare & contrast multiple data series, perform statistical calculations on the data, and customize output views.

    Many of the data sets are available for download as GIS data -- look for the "Map" icon to identify this functionality.
  • PolicyMap Authentication Required
    PolicyMap is a web-based online data and mapping application that provides access to over 15,000 indicators related to demographics, housing, crime, mortgages, health, jobs and more. Data is available at all common geographies (address, block group, census tract, zip code, county, city, state, MSA) as well as unique geographies like school districts and political boundaries. Data comes from both public and proprietary sources. A complete list of data available can be found in the data directory.

    PolicyMap also provides tutorials and a short video tutorial as well.

  • Environment & Energy Publishing Authentication Required
    Provides news and analysis of developments in environmental, energy, and natural resources policy. The E & E Package consists of five daily publications: ClimateWire, EnergyWire, Environment & Energy Daily, GreenWire, and E & E News PM. Also includes E&ETV (featuring video interviews). The Reports tab retrieves compiled news and special reports on specific issues, events, and areas of the world. The former weekly publication, Land Letter (natural resources policy), is available via the site search feature.
  • Bloomberg BNA Premier Authentication Required
    Bloomberg BNA's coverage spans the full range of legal practice areas, including tax & accounting, labor & employment, intellectual property, banking & securities, employee benefits, health care, privacy & data security, human resources, and environment, health & safety.
  • GTM Squared Authentication Required
    News and analysis on alternative energy sources and the U.S. electricity industry. An individual account is required to access this resource. Click on the link below to register using a University of Minnesota e-mail address. Note that the third step of reigstration shows the "Purchase" button, which you can click to associate your account to the Libraries' paid subscription. Once registered, use your e-mail address and password to log in to www.gtmsquared.com from anywhere.
  • Wall Street Journal (WSJ.COM) Authentication Required
    Access to the articles, photographs, charts, podcasts, videos and other premium content available on the WSJ.COM website back to the 2010. Each user must set up a personal account to save articles, create alerts, download apps, and use other features. Access available only for University of Minnesota Twin Cities students, faculty, and staff. No guest access available.
  • Financial Times Authentication Required
    Current students, faculty, and staff must register and create personal accounts using University of Minnesota e-mail addresses at the link below. Once registered, you can use your account to log in to the FT.com from anywhere on any device by clicking on the "Sign in" link in the upper right-hand corner.

    Guest access for non-affiliated users is available at the CD-ROM workstation (computer ID: ULPAWil-101-ROM) located in the Smart Commons area of Wilson Library basement.

    "The Center for Urban and Regional Affairs (CURA) is an all-University applied research and technical assistance center that helps the University of Minnesota fulfill its land grant and urban missions by connecting faculty and student researchers with nonprofit organizations, businesses, neighborhoods, local governments, and state agencies in Minnesota. CURA supports research and publishes policy-oriented reports on a wide range of urban and regional issues."
