The SEC requires all public companies (except foreign companies and companies with
less than $10 million in assets and 500 shareholders) to file registration statements,
periodic reports, and other forms electronically through this site (formerly called EDGAR). Anyone can access
and download this information for free. Here you'll find links to a complete list of filings
available from the SEC and instructions for searching the SEC database.

Analyst Reports for Publicly Traded Corporations
The online version of the print publications: Directory of American firms operating in foreign countries, and: Directory of foreign firms operating in the United States, Uniworld is the authoritative source of information on multinational firms operating around the world. U.S. companies listed have a substantial investment in overseas operations--wholly or partially owned subsidiary affiliate or branch [sic]. Non U.S. companies (foreign firms) listed have substantial investment within the United States.
Investext Plus contains research/analyst reports on companies and industries as well as annual statistical reports of industry trade associations. It delivers full-text reports in their original published formats, complete with charts, photographs and graphics. The Value Line Investment Survey is a comprehensive source of information and advice on approximately 1,700 stocks, more than 90 industries, the stock market, and the economy.
It has three parts: The Ratings & Reports section contains one-page reports showing Value Line's Timeliness, Safety, and Technical ranks, financial and stock price forecasts for the coming 3 to 5 years, an analyst's written commentary, and more. The Summary & Index contains an index of all stocks in the publication as well as many up-to-date statistics. Key Business Ratios, from Dun and Bradstreet, help you to assess how a business is doing compared to an industry or a competitor. The 14 key business ratios cover the critical areas of business performance --solvency, efficiency and profitability. They are broken down into median figures, with upper and lower quartiles. Ratios are arranged by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Codes -a four-digit number that classifies business establishments by defining the industries in which they do business.
- Mergent WebReports
Documents covering public corporations in over 100 countries. MergentWeb contains all the historical information recorded in Moody's Manuals dating back to the early 1900s. This archive is an excellent source of corporate history, business descriptions and financial statements.
- ProQuest Historical Annual Reports
Database offers corporate annual reports for U.S. companies from 1884 to the present. Key data (financial, Fortune 500 ranking, industry classification, key people, geographic location, auditor, and related companies) are indexed in the citation and can be searched. Reports can be browsed by company name, industry or date. Cross-searchable to other historical periodical databases.
- Applied Science & Business Periodicals Retrospective
Indexes seven decades of articles on important events, issues and trends in the history of business and industry (including the complete file of Industrial Arts Index (1913-1957), plus historical sources in the applied science and technology field for the 20th Century. Covers more than 2,000 periodicals that include more than 4.5 million articles. An excellent resource for tracking down important studies, exploring historical controversies, finding papers by innovators, researching the development of a particular technology, and more.
- CompactD SEC
CompactD SEC provides reports on publicly held companies. Company profiles include descriptions, address, state of incorporation, stock exchange, ticker symbol, primary and secondary SIC codes, number of shareholders, number of shares outstanding, number of employees, etc. The bulk of each report is comprised of financial information taken from the quarterly and annual financial statements including key ratios, and summary stock price, ownership and dividend figures with previous 5 year comparison data. Data is compiled from SEC filings. Because the same format is used on all the disks, you can use them to get a series of statistical data on corporations in the U.S. from the 1980s through 2003. CDROM is only available on Business Reference workstations.
