American Textbook Council
"The American Textbook Council is an independent New York-based research organization established in 1989. The Council reviews history textbooks and other educational materials. It is dedicated to improving the social studies curriculum and civic education in the nation's elementary and high schools."
Center for Research Libraries
CRL holds over four million newspapers, journals, dissertations, archives, government publications and other traditional and digital resources for research and teaching. Holdings include such diverse materials as 800,000 doctoral dissertations (including those of Albert Einstein, Dag Hammarskjold and other Nobel laureates), some of the earliest African-American newspapers and the 100,000-plus-page archive of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge security force. Emphasis is on materials produced outside the United States, and the Center has special strength in publications and archives from many developing nations. - Textbook Collection
U of M Twin Cites Campus affiliated users may borrow textbooks from the CRL Textbook Collection using Interlibrary Loan.
"The textbook collection includes U.S. imprints of primary and secondary schoolbooks, textbooks for post-high school non-degree schools such as business and trade schools, and foreign language grammars and readers through college level. The publication dates range from the 18th century, although most holdings were published in the 20th century. This collection was formed by deposits from member libraries and is maintained through retrospective deposits. There are 70,000 volumes in the collection occupying 8,000 linear feet of shelf space."

- Courses of Study: Curiculum Guides
CRL Courses of Study Collection: "The courses of study, or curriculum guides, in the Center's collection were produced by state, county, municipal or district agencies in the U.S. and its territories for grades K-12. The Center's holdings are predominantly from the 20th century, although there are some courses of study from the 19th century; all subjects are included.
The collection is comprised of about 23,000 volumes and occupies 1300 linear feet. These materials were deposited by member libraries, or as a part of the U.S. State Documents collection.
The courses of study are not cataloged, but are arranged on the shelf by state, geographic entity within the state, subject, date of publication and title."

The Minnesota Historical Society Library is the most complete genealogical resource in the area. Included in its collections are Minnesota state and federal census records, 1850 through 1910, and SOUNDEX indexes, when available, on microfilm; history of Minnesota, its counties, cities, towns, communities, and churches; city directories; family histories; and publications of state and local historical societies.
