Directories and Profiles
  • Hoovers
    Includes company and industry information such as ownership,contact information, business descriptions, locations, history, competitors, employment statistics, sales, Fortune 500 rankings, product lines, SIC and NAICS industry codes, executives and other financial information.
  • Million Dollar Database (Dun & Bradstreet)
    Use this directory to find the official names of companies and their subsidiaries in the United States with at sales of over one million or who employ more than 20 employees. The library subscription also includes larger firms in foreign countries, those with more than 100 employees. Use this directory to learn if a company is private or public and information about sales, number of employees, executives, and subsidiaries.   • Corporate Affiliations
    This directory is useful for researching the largest public and private companies worldwide. Corporate ownership information on 200,000 of the most prominent companies, subsidiaries and divisions. Includes historical data for the last 10 years on executives, sales, and the number of employees. Each company profile includes products, brands, and competitors along with the service agencies such as advertising and accounting. Directory can also be used to find companies operating in foreign countries.

    Database of financial data on major privately-held companies. Includes private financials and revenues; private M&A deals and deal multiples, private firm valuations, VC funding, private equity deal history; and private and family ownership data.
  • MarketLine Reports (formerly Datamonitor)
    MarketLine Reports are company profiles and industry reports found in the Business Source Premier database from EBSCO. Company profiles cover key facts, history, employees, major products, revenue analysis, SWOT analysis, top competitors, locations and subsidiaries. Industry reports include market size, market share, forecasts, segmentation, and leading companies.
  • Leadership Directories
    The library subscribes to a collection of print "yellow books" published by Leadership Directories. Each directory include email contacts and is updated regularly.
  • Register of Corporations, Directors, and Executives
    Part of the NetAdvantage e-resource from Standard& Poors NetAdvantage choose the Company tab. Directories listings for over 50,000 private and public companies limited to those with more than $1 million in sales or over 100 employees. Advanced criteria available for private company searching. Each entry lists sales, products, directory info, officers, and bank information.
    This is one of the largest directories of businesses worldwide, with 50 million private and public companies worldwide. Use it to search international companies, their subsidiaries, and percentage of ownership in other firms. Or use ORBIS to research very small companies in the United States.
Nonprofit Organizations
  • GuideStar: The National Database of Nonprofit Organizations
    Information and directory of nonprofit organizations in the United States. Search to find nonprofits by mission, location, income, keywords and other criteria. Includes IRS 990 forms which are tax returns showing operations and other financial information. Limited to three simultaneous users. A password for multiple record downloading is available only at a workstation in Wilson Reference. Please see a desk staff person for details and access.
  • Leadership Library
    Contains 14 leadership directory yellow books and allows searching and browsing within individual directories or across all directories using single or multiple criteria, such as name, job title, industry, and geographical location. The 14 directories are: Congressional yellow book, Federal yellow book, State yellow book, Municipal yellow book, Federal regional yellow book, Judicial yellow book, Corporate yellow book, Financial yellow book, News media yellow book, Associations yellow book, Law firms yellow book, Government affairs yellow book, Foreign representatives yellow book, and Nonprofit sector yellow book.
  • Foundation Directory Online
    The Foundation Directory Online offers full-text search capability across a comprehensive array of documents and data concerning U.S. grantmaking. Over 80,000 unique funder profiles organize the latest foundation news, RFPs, job openings, publications and key staff affiliations. Program details and guidelines for funding applications are provided, as well as links to foundation websites. Additionally there is a fully-searchable database of 250,000+ 990s. Over 500,000 grants are listed, along with the ability to create charts showing distribution by subject, geographic and demographic focus. Foundation Directory Online is updated weekly.

  • Minnesota Council of Nonprofits
    Statewide membership association of nonprofit organizations sharing information, services and research. Includes over members representing all activity areas, budget ranges, and geographic regions of Minnesota. Search the Nonprofit Yellow Pages to find companies that provide services to nonprofits or register for a free account to search the directory of nonprofits in Minnesota.
  • Associations Unlimited
    Directory of associations, professional societies, and other nonprofit membership organization. Includes international, national, and state organizations of all types. Brief profiles include contact information, budget, number of employees and specialized publications.
Other Specialized Directories
  • Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal and Book of Lists
    This monthly magazine on companies, people, and business in the Twin Cities is available as a digital edition in the American City Business Journal database. It includes the annual Book of Lists with over 100 rankings of organizations and companies in manufacturing, services, real estate, banking and finance, health, construction, education, media, technology, hospitality and entertainment. Special lists are also compiled for minority businesses, best employers, and other categories.
  • UniWorld
    A directory of American firms that operate in foreign countries and foreign firms that operate in the United States. Information on multinational firms operating around the world. Includes U.S. companies with a substantial investment in overseas operations that are wholly or partially owned affiliates or branches, and foreign firms with a substantial investment within the United States.
  • Thomas Net
    This is a large online industrial product directory. Use it to find information on companies that manufacture products.
  • Advertising Red Books
    Information about advertisers, agencies, public relations firms and media buying services. Search for agencies and advertisers by industry, specialization, location, and sales. Information includes advertising expenditures by media, video campaigns, and social media activity. Currently licensed for two simultaneous users.
