Directories and Profiles
  • Hoovers
    Includes company and industry information such as ownership,contact information, business descriptions, locations, history, competitors, employment statistics, sales, Fortune 500 rankings, product lines, SIC and NAICS industry codes, executives and other financial information.
  • Corporate Affiliations
    This directory is useful for researching the largest public and private companies worldwide. Corporate ownership information on 200,000 of the most prominent companies, subsidiaries and divisions. Includes historical data for the last 10 years on executives, sales, and the number of employees. Each company profile includes products, brands, and competitors along with the service agencies such as advertising and accounting. Directory can also be used to find companies operating in foreign countries.

  • Million Dollar Database (Dun & Bradstreet)
    Use this directory to find the official names of companies and their subsidiaries in the United States with at sales of over one million or who employ more than 20 employees. The library subscription also includes larger firms in foreign countries, those with more than 100 employees. Use this directory to learn if a company is private or public and information about sales, number of employees, executives, and subsidiaries.     Company Profiles cover key facts, history, employees, major products, revenue analysis, SWOT analysis, top competitors, locations and subsidiaries. Industry Reports include analysis, market size, market share, forecasts, segmentation, and leading companies. Access via Business Source Premier
  • Passport (Euromonitor)
    Key business intelligence on countries, companies, markets, and consumers. Statistics on brands, companies and consumer products worldwide include market size and market share. Useful for researching global consumer markets with analysis of lifestyles for countries. Includes profiles and strategic information about companies that sell leading consumer goods.
  • PrivCo
    Database of financial data on major privately-held companies. Includes private financials and revenues; private M&A deals and deal multiples, private firm valuations, VC funding, private equity deal history; and private and family ownership data.
  • Register of Corporations, Directors, and Executives
    Part of the NetAdvantage e-resource from Standard& Poors NetAdvantage choose the Company tab. Directories listings for over 50,000 private and public companies limited to those with more than $1 million in sales or over 100 employees. Advanced criteria available for private company searching. Each entry lists sales, products, directory info, officers, and bank information.
Nonprofit Organizations
  • GuideStar: The National Database of Nonprofit Organizations
    Information and directory of nonprofit organizations in the United States. Search to find nonprofits by mission, location, income, keywords and other criteria. Includes IRS 990 forms which are tax returns showing operations and other financial information. Licensed for 3 simultaneous users
  • Associations Unlimited
    Directory of associations, professional societies, and other nonprofit membership organization. Includes international, national, and state organizations of all types. Brief profiles include contact information, budget, number of employees and specialized publications.
  • Foundation Directory Online
    Find grantmakers, companies, grants or IRS 990 tax returns for U.S. organizations. Profiles of grantmakers mission, analysis of expenses and revenue and other information. The Foundation Directory includes the publication Philanthropy News, current RFPs for grants, and literature on nonprofits from various research institutes.
  • Leadership Library
    Detailed information about people and organizational strucures for major corporations, nonprofits, news organizations, associations, law firm, courts and local, state, and federal government. Licensed for 1 user at a time.
Other Specialized Directories
  • Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal and Book of Lists
    This monthly magazine on companies, people, and business in the Twin Cities is available as a digital edition in the American City Business Journal database. It includes the annual Book of Lists with over 100 rankings of organizations and companies in manufacturing, services, real estate, banking and finance, health, construction, education, media, technology, hospitality and entertainment. Special lists are also compiled for minority businesses, best employers, and other categories.
  • UniWorld
    A directory of American firms that operate in foreign countries and foreign firms that operate in the United States. Information on multinational firms operating around the world. Includes U.S. companies with a substantial investment in overseas operations that are wholly or partially owned affiliates or branches, and foreign firms with a substantial investment within the United States.
  • Thomas Net
    This is a large online industrial product directory. Use it to find information on companies that manufacture products.
  • Advertising Red Books
    Information about advertisers, agencies, public relations firms and media buying services. Search for agencies and advertisers by industry, specialization, location, and sales. Find advertising expenditures by media, video campaigns, and social media activity.
