The digital preservation team collaborates with partners both locally and nationally on digital preservation issues. Selected partnerships and collaborations are listed below.
University Libraries Programs/Activities
Minnesota Digital Library
The Minnesota Digital Library (MDL), a service of Minitex, provides a popular digital library of resources through a cost effective, collaborative approach to shared services and capacity. As a collaboration MDL supports discovery, education, and personal enrichment through access to unique digital collections from organizations throughout the state through Minnesota Reflections, an online collection photographs, maps, journals, documents, sound recordings, and film, contributed by more than 160 Minnesota cultural heritage organizations.
University of Minnesota Digital Conservancy
The University Digital Conservancy is a venue for UMN faculty, students, and staff to deposit copies of their works for long-term preservation and open access. It is a centralized and searchable repository for institutional digital resources.
The UMedia Archive provides access and long-term support for rich media collections for both the University Libraries and the campus-wide community.
University Campus Wide Programs/Activities
Minnesota Population Center (MPC)
The Minnesota Population Center (MPC) is a University-wide interdisciplinary cooperative for demographic research with a focus on the analysis of demographic behavior across time and space. Research strengths include historical demography, population geography, labor-force studies, migration and immigration, health behavior, healthcare access and use, life-course studies, education, and family demography. The MPC serves more than 80 faculty members and research scientists from eight colleges and institutes at the University of Minnesota. As a leading developer and disseminator of demographic data, we also serve a broader audience of some 50,000 demographic researchers worldwide.
Polar Geospatial Center (PGC)
The Polar Geospatial Center (PGC) is dedicated to supporting and promoting the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) by providing geospatial information to the Arctic and Antarctic sciences, operations, and education communities. The PGC also serves researchers of the Arctic and Antarctic as a data resource, map repository, and GIS service provider.
Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI)
The Minnesota Supercomputing Institute seeks to provide researchers at the University of Minnesota access to high-performance computing resources and user support to facilitate successful and cutting-edge research in all disciplines, help researchers attract funding, contribute to undergraduate and graduate education, and benefit the broader community.
HathiTrust (pronounced hah-TEE) is a partnership of major research institutions and libraries working to ensure that the cultural record is preserved and accessible long into the future. Currently there are more than 90 partners in HathiTrust, and membership is open to institutions worldwide.
National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA)
The National Digital Stewardship Alliance is a consortium of organizations that are committed to the long-term preservation of digital information. The mission of the NDSA is to establish, maintain, and advance the capacity to preserve our nation's digital resources for the benefit of present and future generations. Working groups were created to address the following areas of digital preservation: Content, Standards and Practices, Infrastructure, Innovation, and Outreach.
