Associate University Librarian for Research & Learning
Claire's portfolio includes the education and research support programs of the Libraries, and operational services within ten library facilities. She leads staff who provide general and specialized information services, including discipline liaisons, curators, archivists, and functional specialists responsible for programmatic engagement in research, teaching, and learning on campus. The Research & Learning division comprises six departments: Access and Information Services (AIS); Agricultural, Biological, and Environmental Sciences (ABES); Archives and Special Collections (ASC); Arts and Humanities (A&H); Physical Sciences and Engineering (PSE); and Social Sciences and Professional Programs (SSPP). Research & Learning works closely with the Health Sciences Libraries division to provide a strong, coherent portfolio of research and learning services to the entire University. Among Claire's reports are the leads for geospatial services, government information, elearning programs, data curation, digital scholarship, and learning and inclusion.
Prior to her arrival at Minnesota in January 2015, Claire held several positions at Northwestern University over a 21-year period, including directing the Center for Scholarly Communication and Digital Curation and serving as Head of Digital Collections. Claire served as copyright specialist at Northwestern and was a campus lead for repository services, e-science, digital humanities, digital media services and digital preservation. She holds a B.A. in English Literature with a minor in Humanistic Studies from Saint Mary's College, and a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from Dominican University.
