Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS) contains nearly 900,000 records on all subjects (especially in the humanities and the social sciences) pertaining to East, Southeast, and South Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present.
The most important 100+ periodicals in Asian Studies or on Asia as identified by the BAS staff are indexed as soon as they are published for immediate inclusion in BAS. The total number of indexed journals is many times that amount. Selected Asia-related citations from many other journals are also included when applicable. In addition, various special projects have contributed numbers of additional records to the database (among them journals on Southeast Asia dating as far back as 1779).
BAS also includes citations to Western-language chapters in edited volumes, conference proceedings, anthologies, Festschriften, and more.
China National Knowledge Infrastructure includes Chinese Academic Journal database and Century Journals Project. Our subscription contains 2424 titles of journals in History/Literature/Philosophy and Education & Social Sciences since 1994. Century Journals Project (CJP) contains many of those titles and extends our access from 1913 to 1993.

Hong Kong Journals Online (HKJO) is a full-text image database providing access to selected academic and professional journals, both in English and Chinese, published in Hong Kong. Titles included cover a wide range of disciplines including law, medicine and education, dates vary from journal to journal with the earliest going back to 1872.

Find full text articles in academic journals or books on the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences. JSTOR provides articles from the date of each journal's initial publication to recent issues. In some cases the latest several years may not be available.

From Johns Hopkins University Press. The full text of a limited number of individual monographs is also available for titles that the Libraries have purchased. Users can limit their search results to include only the full text content that the University of Minnesota has access to.

Global Newsstream enables users to search the most recent global news content, as well as archives which stretch back into the 1980s featuring content from newspapers, newswires, and news sites in active full-text format. Provides access to news from the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Australia.
An online resource of news from around the world, obtained from newspaper articles, television and radio broadcasts, online sources, conference proceedings, periodicals, and non-classified reports. NOTE: This resource has been discontinued and is now an archive of world news between 1995 and 2013.

The China Historical Geographic Information System, CHGIS, is a database of populated places and historical administrative units for the period of Chinese history between 221 BCE and 1911 CE. It provides a base GIS platform for researchers to use in spatial analysis, temporal statistical modeling, and representation of selected historical units as digital maps.
The Library of Congress Country Studies Series presents a description and analysis of the historical setting and the social, economic, political, and national security systems and institutions of countries throughout the world. The series examines the interrelationships of those systems and the ways they are shaped by cultural factors.
Dissertations and Theses
Dissertations and theses from over 1000 universities. Doctoral dissertations are indexed for almost all North American graduate schools and many European universities. Masters theses from selected schools only. Provides bibliographic citations for older titles. Abstracts are included for dissertations since 1980 and for masters theses since 1988. Some dissertations, beginning with 1997 publication dates, are available digitally. These include the University of Minnesota and other CIC member universities.

Nearly 1,200 articles on architecture, education, ethnic identity, food and drink, language, performing arts, political culture, religion, sports, and more. Geographical focuses on People's Republic of China while still including "long entries on aspects of the culture of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore" and shorter ones on native Chinese cultural producers who now live abroad.
ChinaMaxx contains approx. 558 full-text Chinese e-books from cover to cover on wide range of subject areas. Individual titles can also be found in MNCAT. To access the e-books, please follow the brief instructions contained in the login page. If viewing using Internet Explorer, you will need to download two browser plug-ins in order to read ChinaMaxx e-books.
"Han ji dian zi wen xian zi liao ku" developed and maintained by the Academia Sinica since 2000. This database contains over 441 Chinese classic titles.

Using a different web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, is not possible since the database contains archaic Chinese characters not included in the current Unicode standard. Once the client program is installed, users can open the program on their pc, select IP Login, and gain access to the database. The Installation Guide contains very important information regarding the technical requirements for user's pc, expecially required language packages.
The project digitizes and catalogs 1,260 Chinese art objects selected by the renowned ceramic scholars Harry Garrner and Margaret Medley from 75 museums around the world found in Chinese Art in Three-Dimensional Colour(donated by Mr. Jonathan R. Gross to the East Asian Library)
The project digitized and cataloged 717 black and white photos took by YMCA employees in China filed between 1896 and 1949.
COMING SOON--The project aggregates a group of visual materials including film, photograph, poster, and slides, centered on the theme of propaganda and its promotion through popular media from China, Japan and Korea. These unique visual resources can be accessed online for authorized users.

Chinese Periodical Full-text Database (1833-1949) covers over 10,000,000 pieces of writing in over 20,000 different kinds of periodicals published between 1833 and 1949. The search terms of the database include title,author,periodical,etc. Users may browse or download them in full text.

Primary Source Materials
There are approximately 310,000 items in the Grand Secretariat Archives at the Institute of History and Philology. These include imperial decrees, edicts, memorials, tribute documents, examination questions, examination papers, rosters of successful examination candidates, documents from the offices of the Grand Secretariat, documents from the offices for book compilation, and old documents from Mukden. Memorials make up the bulk of these documents. The archives contain valuable source materials for institutional, social and economic historians. They record general administrative activities and legal cases, many of which cannot be found in Ch'ing legal compendia.
