The University of Minnesota Libraries are supporting the Open Access to Scholarly Articles policy by
- providing the University Digital Conservancy - a repository through which authors can share their publications for open access purposes;
- consulting with authors to help them understand their rights with respect to the policy, and publication agreements; and
- facilitating author requests for waivers of the policy.
The University Digital Conservancy (UDC) provides University of Minnesota authors a location to self-deposit their materials. The UDC provides free and world-wide Open Access to scholarly works, increases visibility of research, ensures compliance with public access requirements, and provides full-text discoverability and long-term preservation. Additional features are described at conservancy.umn.edu/.
In the future, the Libraries intend to collaborate with campus authors to explore options for sharing articles with the public, including working with authors to collect and share their works in an automated fashion.
