Share citations so that multiple people can read and add to the set of citations. Sharing can make citations publicly available or they may be kept private.

Citation managers offer features to share citations.


You can set up as many RefWorks accounts as you like, so you can set up a RefWorks account for your group to share. Each member has the login name and password. Or, you can give others a read-only password so they can see a RefWorks account but not make changes to it.


Share individual folders or an entire account with others using RefShare. Sharing is offered for citations but not pdfs.

RefShare folders can be shared with anyone including those who do not have a RefWorks account. Use Share options to set-up what you want to share.


Share references by creating a Zotero group. Groups can be open or closed. Forums offer opportunities for discussion.

EndNote Web

Share references using EndNote Web. Synchronize your EndNote Web account with your desktop EndNote program.

An EndNote Web account is needed to view shared citations. Setting up an account may involve a fee for those external to the U of M Twin Cities.
