Open Access at UMN

The University of Minnesota Libraries are committed to helping authors and editors explore the publishing options that make sense for them. We do support and encourage use of Open Access options, recognizing the benefits that Open Access provides to authors, to the University, to the people of Minnesota, and to scholars and others all over the world.

UMN Open Access Publishing Fund (New Fall 2012!)

This recently-established fund to support authors' costs in making their works openly accessible is a joint effort of the University Libraries and the Office of the Vice President for Research. All UMN authors will be eligible to apply for funding. More details on the Open Access Publishing Fund

UMN's Digital Conservancy repository

The University of Minnesota Libraries host open access research publications from UMN affiliate at the University Digital Conservancy. Articles and papers available in the University Digital Conservancy benefit from increased visibility in scholarly search engines, as well as providing public access worldwide.

In order to benefit from the visibility and preservation of the Conservancy, authors may need to retain some rights in their research publications. Learn more about your publishing options and retaining your rights..
