The Archives and Special Collections Reading Room remains open until 7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please contact us in advance if you would like materials available for your use at these times.

We are closed on certain University holidays.

We encourage you to contact us in advance of your visit so that we can have your research materials ready when you arrive, especially if you plan to come on a Wednesday or Thursday evening.


Research Fellowships

There are two fellowships available to provide financial assistance for those who wish to travel to Andersen Library to conduct research.

The Elmer L. Andersen Research Scholars Program supports scholarly research for projects that require use of one or more of the collections in the University of Minnesota's Department of Archives and Special Collections. The application deadline is September 30th.

The Clarke Chambers Fellowship supports travel to do research in the Social Welfare History Archives or the Kautz Family YMCA Archives. Preference is given to dissertation writers and early-career scholars. The application deadline is April 15th.
