The Libraries offer a variety of learning support services in collaboration with other organizations on campus.
Consultations are generally available Monday - Friday and are intended for personalized, in-depth support.
Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL)
PAL sessions are for specific courses and are led by a PAL Leader. They will often have you work in groups to solve problems and will circulate to help.They are weekly sessions throughout the semester.
Peer Learning Consultants (Peer Tutors)
Traditional tutoring support by students that have undergone training to provide the best experiences.
Peer Research Consultants (PRC)
Provide one-on-one assistance to develop research strategies that aid in crafting a good research paper.
They are trained to help:
- Find and evaluate scholarly or academic articles
- Narrow down paper topics
- Create research questions and keywords
- Navigate academic resources
Student English Language Support (SELS)
SELS consultants help international students develop English language and communication skills for academic, social, and professional purposes.
Student media consultants
Provide a base level of walk-in help for media projects and technology troubleshooting.
Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE)
MCAE offers one-on-one peer academic support in a wide variety of subjects in Appleby or online.
Student Writing Support from Center for Writing
Helps student writers develop confidence and effective writing strategies through collaborative one-to-one writing consultations (in person or online).
