This checklist goes with the microfiche set "Minnesota Executive Documents, 1860-1924" located at TC Wilson Library Gov Pub (Reference) Mfiche 44, although if you check MNCAT, you may find that we have some of these titles in other formats and locations.

Index to selective reports and research generated by local government agencies, civic organizations, academic and research organizations, public libraries, and metropolitan and regional planning agencies in approximately 500 selected cities in the United States and Canada. State documents that deal specifically with an eligible city or county may be included.

Some reports are mandated by the Minnesota State Legislature when they write laws. The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library (LRL) catalogs these reports and provides a list of recently aquired reports. Instructions on searching the LRL catalog for other mandated reports can be found at

Catalogs and Bibliographies


The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library catalog contains citations to and some links to the full-text of Minnesota state documents.

This subset of MnPALS searches the catalogs of all participating state agencies. It also allows the broadest possible of Minnesota state documents since state agencies own Minnesota state documents as part of their collections.

The catalog includes titles held at some county law libraries, as well as the State Law Library. These are noted in the location field.

General Reference Sources


The Minnesota Guidebook to State Agency Services provides a comprehensive look at Minnesota State Government. It includes key agency contacts, services provided by State agencies, opportunities for citizen participation in state policy making, licensing fees and requirements, and much more.

General Reference Works

List of lists about the Minnesota Legislature such as "Speakers of the House, 1849-".

Includes the Minnesota state and the United States constitution, historical and current events, biographies of legislators, directory for federal, state, regional, and local government officials, and election statistics and voter turnout maps.

Primary Source Materials

Government Documents

A multi-volume set published every odd numbered year. Updated by pocket part supplements issued between editions. Contains regulations (rules) promulgated by state agencies. Rules arranged by agency name. See volume 1 "User's Guide" for more information.

Session Laws are compilations of all of the laws passed during a legislative session. They are compiled in order of passage. The Government Publications Library has the Session Laws from 1915-.

The State Register is published weekly and contains agency regulations, governors' executive orders, proposed and final agency rules, Tax Court decisions, state contracts and more.

Minnesota Statutes presents current law arranged by subject.

Statistics and Data

Statistical Resources

Includes various forecasts, population, employment, housing, development and profile data.

Community Profiles offer informational reports on a city's economic development, demographics, workforce, employers, utilities, transportation, education, and business and community services.

Datanet is an online information system consisting of summarized statistical information about social, economic and demographic conditions in Minnesota. See for a guide.

Contains comprehensive labor market information for Minnesota, including job vacancies; wages and benefits; employment outlooks; unemployment rates and more.

State Profiles present key data about each state's student and school population and its NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) testing history and results. The profiles provide easy access to all NAEP data for participating states and links to the most recent state report cards for all available subjects.
