OVID, like PubMed, is an interface to search the MEDLINE database. It includes citations from the fields of medicine, public health, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and the basic biomedical sciences. MEDLINE is the National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database/article index that contains over 17 million references to journal articles. Coverage is from 1949 to the present. Over 5200 journals worldwide in over 37 languages are indexed.

Primary source of journal article access for the health sciences - the campus version provides full text access to all MEDLINE e-journals subscribed to by the University of Minnesota TC Libraries.

General Reference Sources

Dissertations and Theses

Dissertations and theses from over 1000 universities. Doctoral dissertations are indexed for almost all North American graduate schools and many European universities. Masters theses from selected schools only. Provides bibliographic citations for older titles. Abstracts are included for dissertations since 1980 and for masters theses since 1988. Some dissertations, beginning with 1997 publication dates, are available digitally. These include the University of Minnesota and other CIC member universities.

Kinesiology Abstracts

A Subject and author index of dissertations and theses. For advanced research. Most items will need to be requested via Interlibrary Loan.

1948 - present, from the University of Oregon. Graduate dissertations and theses in areas related to health and performance. The focus of the collection is physical activity. Academic areas of interest include biochemistry, biomechanics, dance, exercise physiology, history or philosophy of physical education, kinesiology, motor control, obesity, recreation, sports marketing, sports medicine, sports pedagogy, sports psychology, and tests and measurements.

Electronic Texts

The LA84 Foundation Library is one of the world's largest sports research collections. Contains Official Olympic reports for every Modern Olympic Games and oral histories of many olympians. The Library's ongoing digitization project makes thousands of articles and other publications available free-of-charge to sport researchers throughout the world.
