Statistics and Data

Statistical Resources

FAOSTAT, from the Food and Agriculture Organization, contains over 1 million time-series records covering international statistics in the following areas: Production, Trade, Food Balance Sheets, Fertilizer and Pesticides, Land Use and Irrigation, Forest Products, Fishery Products, Population, Agricultural Machinery and Food Aid Shipments from 1961-.

This database provides international statistics on all major social and economic subjects. It replaces the older database "UN Common Database" which will be discontinued in mid-2008.

The Web, book, and CD-ROM from the World Bank provides 500 time-series indicators for 210 economies plus regional and income groups. It provides definitions, source information, and all text from current and previous print editions. The CD-ROM lets you retrieve data in spreadsheet format, display maps and graphs, and export data into many popular formats. Off-site access is available through the web version --which is called WDI Online-- for students, staff, faculty at the University of Minnesota.
