Article Databases and Indexes

Academic or Scholarly Articles Subject Indexes

The Civil Engineering Database (CEDB) is designed to provide easy bibliographic access to all publications of the American Society of Civil Engineers. The database covers ASCE documents published since 1973. It provides access to all the journals, conference proceedings, books, standards, manuals, magazines, and newsletters.

Search both Inspec and Compendex for articles and conference papers related to engineering, computer science, and physics.

An abstract and citation database with a single search platform searching content from ScienceDirect, Scopus, SciTopics, and relevant Web content.

Search within a comprehensive interdisciplinary collection of journal article citations. Subjects generally covered are within Science and technology, arts and humanities, and social sciences . Use the citation web to find articles and journals with the most impact. Coverage runs from 1975 to the present. Find help on their website.

A collection of industry-leading standards and technical engineering information. Covers a broad range of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, chemical, civil, environmental, geological, health and safety, industrial, materials science, mechanical, nuclear, petroleum, soil science, and solar engineering.

ASCE/SEI 7-10 published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Internet Resources

Electronic Texts

Knovel provides online access to reference books, databases, and conference proceedings from a number of publishers that cover all areas of engineering and includes content relevant to related sciences (e.g., chemistry and earth sciences). It includes interactive graphs and tables and is a good starting point when you need a piece of data quickly.

Periodical and Newspaper subscriptions

Journal Titles

Peer-reviewed journal presenting research on materials and concrete, including properties, use, and handling of concrete and related ACI standards.

Peer-reviewed journal publishing research on structural design and analysis of concrete elements and structures, concrete elements and structures, design and analysis theory, and related ACI standards.

Peer-reviewed journal publishing papers on all aspects of bridge engineering.

One of the main peer-reviewed journals published by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Earthquake Spectra is the professional journal of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI).

Bimonthly publication including peer-reviewed research on the analysis, design, materials, construction, and repair of precast and/or prestressed concrete structures and pavements.

Style Manuals and Writing Guides

Bibliography Software

Citation managers are software packages used to create personalized databases of citation information and notes. They allow you to: import and organize citation information from article indexes and other sources save links to pdfs and other documents, and in some cases save the document itself format citations for your papers and bibliographies using APA and many other styles include your own notes

Writing Guides

The book helps scientists write papers for scientific journals. Using the key parts of typical scientific papers (Title, Abstract, Introduction, Visuals, Structure, and Conclusions), it shows through numerous examples, how to achieve the essential qualities required in scientific writing, namely being clear, concise, convincing, fluid, interesting, and organized.
