Portraits of Scientists and Engineers From the College of Science & Engineering

September, 2010 - December, 2010

A photography exhibit featuring female College of Science & Engineering faculty. The exhibit was produced for the Minnesota History Center by Nancy G. Johnson, a communications specialist in the Mechanical Engineering Department who received an IDEA (Innovation, Diversity, Equity, and Achievement) grant from the University's Office of Equity and Diversity to create it. The Science and Engineering Library is bringing the exhibit to Walter in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Women's Center (also the focus of an exhibit at Andersen Library). The exhibit also features collections from the University Archives highlighting the changing perception of female students majoring in the scientific and engineering disciplines at the University of Minnesota over the last century, from “feminine invaders” to “competent female engineers.”
