The Acara Challenge is an annual competition to fund student changemakers who are developing solutions to address social and/or environmental challenges.

Any UMN student (undergraduate/graduate/professional) with an idea or operational early stage intervention/idea/business/solution that addresses a grand challenge issue may participate.

Global Health Case Competition

The U of M Global Health Case Competition is a unique opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students from multiple schools and disciplines to come together to develop innovative solutions for 21st century global health issues.

Any undergraduate or graduate student- must be in a team (interdisciplinary, at least three different colleges) thought people can be randomly assigned to a team

BizPitch

Opportunity for University of Minnesota undergraduate students to win $1,000 to develop your new venture or implement your idea to support the local community.

Current undergradute students at University eligible to apply with original idea.

Environmental Protection Agency P3 Program

P3 stands for People, Prosperity and the Planet. Through this EPA program, teams of college students can benefit people, promote prosperity and protect the planet by designing environmental solutions that move us toward a sustainable future.

Undergraduate and/or graduate students from public and private U.S institutions

Wege Prize

Wege Prize is an annual competition that ignites game-changing solutions for the future by inspiring college/university students around the world to collaborate across institutional, disciplinary, and cultural boundaries to redesign the way economies work. Participants contend for over $30,000 (USD) in total cash prizes, all while helping to show the world what the future of problem solving looks like.

Undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level student are eligible to compete from all over the world.
Must be in a transdisciplinary team representing different academic disciplines and different academic institutions.

MinneHack
