Welcome to the John Philip Borger Comic Book Collection
The CLRC is proud to announce the acquisition of the John Philip Borger Comic Book Collection. After considering various locations to donate his precious comic book collection, life-long collector John Borger finally selected the Children’s Literature Research Collections. Borger was impressed by the climate-controlled, archival-sound facilities offered in the Andersen Library Archives and Special Collections caverns, and believed the CLRC would be a good steward for his books. He has generously donated most of his 40,000-volume collection, including secondary materials such as action figures and posters of comic book heroes.
The collection, which includes Silver Age DC Comics such as Superman and Wonder Woman, was accompanied by a grant donation for storage and cataloging from Faegre & Benson. The finding aid, linked on the left, will continue to be updated as we progress through this vast resource for studying popular culture.
Additional information about John Borger and his donation visit the stories at MinnPost.com (don't miss the video clip!), an RLG blog post, and most recently on readcomics.org.
