About

Colleen Wilson is the Associate Director of Program Management and Outreach Coordination for the Geospatial Information Network (GIN) at the Big Ten Academic Alliance, under the management and direction of the University of Minnesota Libraries, which leads the BTAA-GIN. The BTAA-GIN is a collaborative initiative among Big Ten universities, designed to support geospatial research and data sharing through resources like the BTAA Geoportal, which aggregates and provides access to a vast array of geospatial datasets and digitized historical maps. In her newly created role, Colleen engages stakeholders and strengthens connections within this diverse geospatial data community.

With over 20 years of experience from KQED PBS/NPR and Twin Cities Public Television (TPT), Colleen has developed expertise in digital strategy and program coordination. At TPT, she led the Digital Publishing Unit, overseeing the award-winning programs Next Avenue and Rewire. At KQED, she co-founded the innovation lab, creating new products and revenue opportunities. One of her key achievements was leading the organization’s first Standards and Practices presence, directly addressing the decline in trust in news media.

Colleen is passionate about leveraging digital platforms to enhance impact and foster collaboration. In this role with the ever-growing BTAA-GIN, she’s excited to dive into GIS research with brilliant collaborators from some of the country's top research universities. Plus, she gets to work in Wilson Library!
