About

Kent Gerber is the University Data Archivist and joined the University Archives in 2023. Kent works to ensure access and long-term preservation to the University's research data and institutional data for the purposes of open scholarship, public accountability, and documenting historical significance. Kent manages the daily operations of the Data Repository of the University of Minnesota (DRUM) and collaborates with the data curators in the Research Data Services team, and the inter-organizational Data Curation Network, housed here at the University of Minnesota, to steward the University’s research data and make it publicly available. Kent also works with the existing physical and analog research datasets within the faculty research collections and university office records held in the University Archives and consults on processing new additions to these collections.

Kent brings to this role over a decade of previous experience managing open access scholarly repositories and his research interests include Digital Libraries and Archives, Digital Humanities, and the Research Data Scholarly Infrastructure.
