Program Development Lead, eLearning Support Initiative
Kristi Jensen is the Program Development Lead for the eLearning Support Initiative at the University of Minnesota Libraries. She supports faculty participating in the Partnership for Affordable Content grant program, serves as the Libraries lead for the TeachingSupport@UMN collaboration, and co-leads the Course Content Strategy Planning group. In addition, she Chairs the Unizin Teaching and Learning Affordable Content group.
She is also currently serving as the Interim Research and Learning Division Director for the Arts and Humanities Department.
She joined the University Libraries in June of 2004 and has filled a number of roles since that time:
- Physics and Astronomy Librarian (2004-2007),
- Map Librarian and Geography Liaison (2007-2009),
- and Program Director, Social Sciences and Professional Programs (Nov. 2009 - January 2013).
Prior to her arrival in Minnesota, she worked as the Earth Sciences Librarian at Penn State University (1999-2004) and participated in the Residency Program at the University of Michigan (1997 -1999) where she worked in what is now known as the Art, Architecture, and Engineering Library (formerly the Media Union Library) and the Map Library. Given the breadth of her experience, she has developed expertise in supporting research in a number of areas including engineering, architecture, geographic information systems (GIS), geology, meteorology, physics, astronomy, geography (human and physical), as well as maps and cartography. She has an interest in providing technological solutions to library issues/services and have worked on a number of efforts in this vein. Some examples include Minnesota Historical Aerial Photographs Online (MHAPO) (providing access to almost 60,000 historic air photos of Minnesota) and MapHappy (spearheaded by Lisa Johnston and providing a graphical interface for searching for paper and digital maps found in the University Libraries).
