About
Laura Costello is the director of Access and Information Services in the Student Success Service Area. Access and Information Services (AIS) fosters student well-being and academic success by providing access to safe, study-friendly spaces, providing users access to materials through fulfillment and borrower services, and coordinating front-line and on-demand reference and research support. The department functions as the “front door of the Libraries,” reflecting that the spaces and services supported by the department are core to student experiences with libraries. AIS staff work across 6 locations on the Twin Cities campuses.
Laura holds a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Library and Information Science degree (MLIS) from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and a Ph.D in Communication, Information, and Media from the Rutgers School of Communication and Information. Her research centers on the intersection of library user services and technology.
