About

Paloma Barraza joined the University of Minnesota Libraries in 2023 as the History, Iberian, and Latin American Studies for the Arts, Humanities, & Area Studies Department. She is the liaison for the History, Chicano/Latino Studies, and the Spanish & Portuguese Departments. She received a MLIS in Library and Information Science from the University of Arizona and a MA in Art History, Art of the Americas from the University of New Mexico. Paloma has experience working with archives, museums, and academic and public libraries.

Paloma is an active member of the Seminar on the Acquisition of Latin American Library Materials (SALALM) and currently serves as Member-at-Large (2026-2029),  and is the Convener for the Midwest Organization of Libraries for Latin American Studies (MOLLAS) Midwest regional group. Since 2026, she has been the Secretary of the Latin American Collections Committee, part of the Center for Research Libraries Global Connections Committee.
