Venetian cartographer Zuane Pizzigano's 1424 Nautical Chart has a mystery in its lines: a group of improbably large islands in the western Atlantic that scholars today call the Antilia group.
A Complete Unknown? Not for ‘The Little Sandy Review’
Folk music fanzine Little Sandy Review’s full 30-issue run is held within the Upper Midwest Literary Archives. In 2024, it was digitized by Digital Library Services, a department within University Libraries. And while LSR isn’t a literary journal, its connections to the 1960s Midwestern folk scene, and the history and ethos it inherited from anti-Vietnam War protests, gives it common lineage with concurrent poetic movements.

‘Welcome to your University’
In 1947, the formerly known, “Freshman Week” was transformed into what is now known as Welcome Week for all incoming freshmen and new students. Under the direction of the Dean of Students and Orientation Office, Welcome Week was organized to help acquaint these students “with the University, its organizations and activities during the week preceding the opening of the fall quarter.”
