The Francis V. Gorman Rare Art Books and Media Collection is a collection of rare art exhibition catalogs, artists’ books, zines, illustrated periodicals, and more that date from the 1500s – present.

About the collection

The Gorman Collection reflects an international perspective on art and culture. It is consulted by scholars worldwide, and is available to researchers and classes by appointment. The collection is located in Andersen Library.

A rich source of primary research material, the Gorman collection supports courses with opportunities for hands-on learning.

The Francis V. Gorman Rare Art Books and Media Collection began from an endowment founded in 1987.

About the curator

Deborah Ultan has been the curator of the Gorman Rare Art Books and Media Collection since 2000. She continues to build and refine the collection by working and partnering with colleagues, curators, artists, publishers, antiquarian dealers, faculty, students, and researchers. Her efforts maintain its availability for study and community engagement.
