The fund supports the Immigration History Research Center Archives efforts to preserve and make available Greek American cultural and historical sources.
Continuing the IHRC Archives’ Greek American collections
The Immigration History Research Center Archives is widely regarded as the nation's leading archive and library for the study of Greek American history and experiences. The cornerstone of this collection is the extensive body of personal and professional papers compiled by the eminent historian of Greek immigration, Theodore Saloutos. We also share the papers of leading journalists Kostis Argoe and Demetrios Callimachos, and records of organizations such as the Order of AHEPA, and the Daughters of Penelope and their important oral history project.
The rich library of books, pamphlets, newspapers and serials are largely written by and for Greek Americans. These multi-lingual printed works provide another cornerstone for research here, and we are currently building this print collection, and improving discoverability.
We very much appreciate the generous support of the John and Nausica (Nancy) Lambros Greek American Studies Fund. The fund supports our efforts to preserve and make available these Greek American cultural and historical sources.
Our collections are used by researchers from around the world, either in person in our Reading Room or via the web as a result of new and exciting digital projects. Many of these projects are funded in part by the Lambros Fund. Please explore them by following the links on this page, or visit our Reading Room in person.
We welcome your gift to help us continue in our work to reach out to new users, provide more content freely online, and build upon these distinctive collections.
Thank you! ευχαριστώ!
