System-wide Disability Access

The University of Minnesota Libraries is committed to serving users with disabilities by providing special assistance to facilitate use of the collections and services. All staff working in public service areas of the Libraries will make every effort to accommodate reasonable requests from users with disabilities. Disability Services Article Delivery

Disability Services Article Delivery is an access service provided to mobility- or visually-impaired students. Disability Services Article Delivery delivers books to the eligible student's campus address (for delivery to the circulation desk of choice see Get It). Students may also request an article from journal or a chapter from a book to be delivered electronically.

Proxy Cards

Any student, staff, and faculty member with a mobility or visual impairment may request a proxy card for his or her personal assistant to charge out library materials. Parking
Nearest accessible parking is located in Lot C86 and Lot C88, north of the building.

Building Entrances
Accessible entrances to the building are located on first floor on the south and northwest sides and on the ground (street) level on the north side.

Elevators
The south elevator connects the first floor to the ground floor of Wiley Hall for access to the tunnel system. The north elevator connects the ground floor to the 1st-3rd floors.

Restrooms
Restrooms are located on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors next to the north elevator.

Paging Services
The Bio-Medical Library offers free paging of items; fee is charged for photocopies. Inquire at user services desk (2nd Floor). If staff is available a few items will be paged while patron waits, otherwise turnaround time ranges from 1 to 2 days, depending on the number of items. Paging is available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Nearest accessible parking is located in Washington Avenue Ramp

Building Entrances
The main entrances on the 2nd and 3rd floors have automatic doors. After 6pm the 3rd floor entrance is locked, but the 2nd floor entrance remains accessible until the library closes.

Elevators
One elevator is located in the lobby of Diehl Hall and another is inside the library. The building map is available at the user services desk (2nd floor).

Restrooms
Restrooms are located on the 2nd and 4th floors. The building map is available at user services desk (2nd floor).

Magrath Library

The Magrath Library building houses a variety of collections to support the St. Paul campus as well as a SMART Learning Commons Location.

Access to Collections

Paging Services
Magrath Library staff will enlarge all materials for regular-price copying. Paging is available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; other times when backup desk coverage is available.

Computers and Adaptive Technology
All our public computers have either ZoomText or the accessibility suite of Windows Utilities (ctrl+U) installed. An Adaptive Technology lab is available in 307 Wilson Library.
Parking
Nearest accessible parking is located in Gortner Avenue Ramp, Lot 104.

Building Entrances
Easiest access is via the entrances on the north side of the building on Buford Avenue. There is a power-assisted door on the basement-level door from the Gortner Avenue Ramp, however elevator access must be arranged by calling 612-624-2215

Elevators
An elevator serving the Ground, First and Second Floors is located in the main lobby. Access to the basement level requires staff assistance, and can be arranged during open hours by calling 612-624-2215.

Restrooms
Accessible restrooms are available on the Basement Level, First Floor and Second Floor.

Walter Library

The Walter Library building houses the science and engineering collections as well as a SMART Learning Commons location. This library also houses an Adaptive Technology Lab in room 103 (first floor computer lab).

Parking
Nearest accessible parking is located in Church Street Garage and surface parking is available on the Pleasant Street side of the building.

Building Entrances
There are four building entrances. The wheelchair accessible entrance is located on the Pleasant Street side of the building, with the ramp entrance near Johnston Hall. There is also an entrance from Northrop Mall. There are two additional entrances on the Basement Level from the tunnels between Johnston and Smith Halls.

There are restrooms on each floor near the Central Elevators.

Wilson Library

The Wilson Library building houses the following collections: Ames Library of South Asia, East Asian Library, John R Borchert Map Library, Business Reference Service, Government Publications Library, James Ford Bell Library, and Wilson Library. Wilson Library also houses a SMART Learning Commons location. This library also houses an Adaptive Technology Lab in room 307 (third floor).

Access to Collections

Paging Services
On demand paging from the book and periodical stacks is available through the Circulation Desk on the 1st floor Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 1 pm to 5 pm; Sunday, 3pm to 5 pm. If you cannot come to the library during these hours, call the Circulation Desk at (612) 624-3321 during paging hours and request the materials be paged and held for you at the Circulation Desk. If possible, paging requests should be submitted in advance, either in person or by telephone.

Up to three reserve readings can be held for a patron. If possible, call in advance to (612) 624-3321. For further information or to request exceptions regarding the number of items and length of loan period, contact a full-time staff member during daytime business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm)

Students must be registered with the Disability Services Office to receive paging services.

Nearest accessible parking is located in the 19th Avenue Ramp and the 21st Avenue Ramp.

Building Entrances
There are two public entrances: one on first floor and one at the basement level. Both entrances have automatic doors. A basement tunnel connects Wilson Library to Blegen Hall, Carlson School of Management, Ferguson Hall, Humphrey Center, and Social Sciences Building.

Elevators
Elevators are located in the center of the building and are wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms
Restrooms are located on all floors except the first floor. Building maps are available at the Information Desk on the first floor.

Restrooms are located on the first floor. The women's restroom is in the northwest corner of the building and the men's in the southeast corner.
