Explore, tinker, prototype, learn and share. The Makerspace in Walter Library is a creative space with sewing machines, craft supplies, 3D printers, a button maker, virtual reality, and more. All materials, technology, and tools are free. All majors, years, and skill levels welcome!
About the space
Craft Island
Materials for simple projects, including adhesives, yarn, beads, paint, embroidery thread and fabric, and cutting supplies.
3D printing
3D printers (Two PRUSA MK3 & two MK3S), PLA filament, materials and tools for quality prints. PrusaSlicer software is available on the computer or a free download.
Cutting zone
Cricut Maker, vinyl, cardstock, an inkjet printer for custom stickers, printable sticker paper and printable vinyl.
Sewing zone
Sewing and embroidery machines, accessories, pins, rotary cutters, cutting mats, thread, iron, ironing board, scrap fabric.
Virtual reality
Valve Index and access to popular Steam virtual reality experiences and games.
Button maker and more
Button maker, supplies, magazines and paper. Small lamination machine, manual sticker maker, and a small light box for photos.
Make of the week
Simple 5-10 minute craft that involves materials available in the Breakerspace. Take a short study break!

The Toaster Innovation Hub
Free to use for all UMN students, the Toaster has open study space, as well as reservable spaces for meetings, workshops, and events. We also have a makerspace with hands-on equipment and supplies, and provide access to all things UMN innovation and entrepreneurship.
Media equipment and consultations
Media services provides media equipment for no-cost checkout to UMN students, staff and faculty. Consultations on using the equipment or any part of the media production process are available. Priority for equipment and consultations is given to students working on course-related media projects.
Health Sciences Library Makerspace
The Makerspace provides equipment, materials, and tools that promote innovation and creativity. The space is free to all U of M Twin Cities faculty, students, and staff.
